Privacy Policy
Plain talk, no fine print.
Last updated: October 9, 2026
What we collect
- Account information — when you sign up: your name and email address. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes; we can't read them.
- Contact messages — when you use a contact form: your name, email, and whatever you write to us.
- Messages to attorneys — conversations between you and an attorney are between you and that attorney. Firms, courts, and other attorneys can't see them.
- Basic analytics — which pages get visited, so we can see what people find useful. We use a daily rotating salt to hash IP addresses — we never store your actual IP address. We respect Do Not Track signals, ignore duplicate hits within 60 seconds, and exclude admin sessions entirely.
- Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processors (Stripe and PayPal). Your card number never touches our servers.
How we use it
- To run the directory: show listings, deliver your messages, and keep your account working.
- To reply when you contact us.
- To process attorney subscriptions and featured listings.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful — never to profile you or sell ads against your situation.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage for things the site needs to function: keeping you signed in, remembering your language choice, and basic preferences. We don't use advertising trackers or third-party ad cookies.
Third-party services
A few trusted services help us run the site. Each only receives what's needed to do its job, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Stripe and PayPal — payment processing for attorney subscriptions.
- Cloudflare — hosting, security, and performance. Their systems see normal web traffic logs.
- Resend — sends transactional emails (verification links, receipts). We only send mail you asked for.
Your rights
- Delete your account — you can delete your account and your information any time, right from inside your account once you're logged in. Deletion is complete: your credentials, listing, and data are removed, not downgraded.
- Ask us — write to [email protected] with any privacy question or request, and we'll handle it.
Data retention
We keep your information only as long as it's needed to run your account and the services you use. When you delete your account, your data goes with it. Anonymous analytics are kept in aggregate form to understand site usage over time.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that affects your rights, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, let account holders know by email.
